Walk in Step With God

*There is no video or audio for this week's sermon*

Walking out our faith can be difficult at times. Things won't always go how we had planned, and we may make mistakes. The cool thing about walking out our faith though, is that God is right there with us the entire time. Faith isn't just taking steps towards God, it's walking in step with God.

Throughout the Genesis 17 we see how God walks in step with us by, first, confirming His faithfulness. God made a covenant with Abram, changing his name from Abram to Abraham, because God promised Abraham that he would be the "father of many nations." God confirms His faithfulness to us by being totally reliable, firmly constant in our lives, and working things out according to His plan.

God also walks in step with us by marking us as His own. Abraham and his family line were told to be circumcised in order to show that they were marked by God and for God. Our mark from God is our faithfulness to Him. We show our faithfulness to God by defining ourselves as followers of Christ and living in obedience to God.

Finally, God walks in step with us by working out His plan through us. At the end of the passage, God says that Sarah and Abraham will have a child named Isaac, and God would continue to work through Isaac. God was going to work through Abraham, Sarah, and Isaac and God will also work through all of us. We may seem like unlikely people for God to work through, and we may even think it's impossible for God to work through us, but that's not God's mindset. God works through all of us.

Walk in step with God as He walks in step with you.
