Sin
In 2 Samuel 11, we see how even a man after God’s own heart, David, can fall into the trap of sin. What begins as a desire quickly grows into temptation, action, and eventually an elaborate attempt to cover up what he has done. Through David’s story, we see how sin grows when we feed it, justify it, and cover it up. We often try to excuse our actions because of our circumstances, minimize the seriousness of our sin, or shift the blame onto someone else to protect ourselves. But God sees beyond our cover-ups, and He calls us to take responsibility for our actions rather than allowing sin to create even more damage. The good news is that we don’t have to hide, blame, or cover up our sin because Jesus has already taken the weight of it upon Himself.
