Nehemiah 11 shows that rebuilding God’s city required sacrifice, as people willingly gave up homes, comfort, familiarity, personal plans, and even recognition to serve God’s purposes and repopulate Jerusalem. Their example reminds us that sacrifice is not about obligation but about responding to the greater sacrifice God has already made for us through Jesus. Pastor Geoff reminded us that following God means being willing to sacrifice our comfort and control, to trust His plans, to embrace the ordinary moments where He works, and to serve without needing recognition. Sacrifice may be difficult, but it is never wasted—it draws us closer to God, strengthens our faith, and becomes another brick God uses to build us and His church. Sacrifice says God is worth more than what I’m giving up.
