look inside
We opened chapter 7 of Mark by hearing about the Pharisees, once again, trying to trap Jesus. The Pharisees called out Jesus' disciples over the issue of hand washing before eating and how that makes the unclean and defiled. Jesus' response to the Pharisees was to call out their own hypocritical and judgmental hearts. The Pharisees were judging righteousness based on their own traditions and overlooking what true righteousness is to God. Jesus then went on to teach that what makes people unclean, or defiled, all starts in their hearts. Pastor Geoff encouraged us to always being looking inside and looking at our own desires and our own actions before judging the behavior or righteousness of someone else.
