In 1 Samuel 17, David faced Goliath with courage—not because he was stronger, but because he trusted in the God who was with him. David’s courage teaches us to see, stand, and stay: to recognize what stands against God, to stand with God using what He has given us, and to remain faithful even when there is opposition or difficulty. Ultimately, David’s courage points us to Jesus, who courageously stayed on the path to the cross for us. We will all face our own “Goliaths,” but Goliath isn’t the biggest thing in our lives—God is. So when we see what stands against God, we can have the courage to stand where God stands.
