Today, in our journey through Mark's Gospel, the story of the arrest and execution of John the Baptist by Herod was recounted. In talking about this story Pastor Geoff highlighted the differences between the kingdom Herod was trying to build and the Kingdom of God that was being ushered in by Jesus and represented by John the Baptist. Pastor Geoff encouraged us to remember that the Kingdom of God stands over and above all of the "kingdoms" of the earth, we just have to be willing to stand with it.
